Weavers in the poplar wood

29 August 2025, late afternoon: a weaver working on its nest in the poplar wood, and the Stone Cottage, Kliphuis, in soft light with yellow flowers in front of it.

Work in the poplar wood

Late on 29 August, a weaver was working at its nest in the poplar wood. One photograph shows the bird among the branches; another brings us closer to the woven nest. The small structure hangs within a much larger setting of trees, making it easy to pass by until movement draws the eye.

Looking closely

The bird and its nest are the centre of this little sequence. Looking from one frame to the next reveals the shape of the nest and the bird’s position around it. The photographs record that activity without settling a species identification. For this note, it remains a weaver in Popelierbos.

Kliphuis in the flowers

The same late-August day includes the Stone Cottage, Kliphuis, in soft light with yellow flowers in front of it. The shift from the nest to the cottage brings two very different kinds of shelter into the story. The trees, the flowers and the stone house are familiar parts of the farm, seen here in the quieter light of late afternoon.
